"Planning is an iterative process. It’s not sitting at your desk and making assumptions. So go out and ask people, ‘Is this what you want?’ and ‘How much would you spend?'"

Established in the mid-1960s by the late entrepreneur and philanthropist Ewing Marion Kauffman, the Kauffman Foundation is based in Kansas City, Mo., and is among the largest private foundations in the United States with an asset base of approximately $2 billion.
We strive to have a national impact and global reach by working together with communities around the country to create opportunities and connect people to the tools they need to shape their futures and be successful.
We believe that opportunity lies in the fields of education and entrepreneurship — which our founder, Ewing Kauffman, saw as two ends of a continuum.
To support that, we're surveying people who are or aspire to be entrepreneurs to learn more about how we can create tools to empower success.
Our Founder, Ewing Kauffman, established the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation in the mid-sixties to support programs of entrepreneurship and education, creating uncommon solutions that empower people to shape their futures and create their own success. Since then, the Foundation has grown its asset base to more than $2 billion, serving as one of the largest private Foundations dedicated to entrepreneurship in the country.
